She's alive!!

Big Thanks to Chris (PKRWUD) for helping me get going again. You are the man!

I finally got her broken in a little and I only have one problem now. I can't figure out why the headers started to glow after 20 minutes at around 2500 RPM's. The temp gauage stayed right under 180 the entire time and my fuel pressure was set at 40 psi. Am I still running too lean or what??

Also-Don't know if this is an issue but I'm using a pointer I got from the dealership for a 302. They told me that 302/351 pointers were the same. Is this true?? If that's wrong that maybe my timing is too far off. Sure sounds great though!

sounds like your running really lean, i wouldnt run it too much like that.

jerrys84 05-30-2002 12:33 PM

yep, way lean!!!

i agree, would'nt drive it like that!!

Actually, since I posted this thread I was told by my engine builder and another reliable source that it's the new cam that I've installed and the overlap in that cam that is the cause. The sparkplugs are not white upon ispection. I do have concerns though. What do ya think?

What is your timing set at. If it is way retarded glowing headers can be a result.

PKRWUD 05-30-2002 03:39 PM

It's the cam. It's a newer engine with a new cam with alot of overlap. Make sure your guys fine tune it to be sure, but that's my take on it.

BTW, thanks for the kind words!

Good luck.

Take care,
-Chris
