Surface Rust Prevention??
 

Can anyone recommend a method to protect your car from condensation while in storeage for winter months? I have unheated detached garage, concrete floor. Tried plastic on the floor as a vapor barrier with car up on jackstands but didnt seem to work. Live in northern Ohio. Getting surface rust on headers; valve covers; styled wheels and most other chromed or unpainted surfaces. Cleans off but with a lot of work and some of it is very hard to reach especially in engine area and around headers. Has anyone tried one of those plastic bubble things?? How about a fan just to keep the air circulating? Dehumidifier might be useless without insulation, etc. in the garage. Any suggestions appreciated!!

I usually just spray some WD-40 on the chrome in the winter and clean it off in the summer.

Store the whole damn thing in a box of grease.

It works for guns.

What Red said. You won't be able to stop condensation on metal unless you put the car in a dehumidifying environment, but some wd-40 will do wonders for keeping the rust at bay. You could also apply some rust converter to the existing rust.

This isn't going to help the outside, but put a can of dessicant on the inside. I don't know about auto aources, but they sell it at gun places like Cabellas. This will help kep your interior from getting all musty and (hopefully) help keep your interior chrome in good shape.
