I turn to you guys for an answer yet again.....

Well I'm going to look at an 89 LX 5.0 Notchback later today. It's the EXACT model and year I want. It has a little bit of high miles (143k) which I'm not too worried about. The interior is in good shape. The AC doesn't work. It has tilt, CC, PW, PDL. He's asking $3200. To my dilemma, it has a pretty big dent around the passenger door, and needs a paint job. My question is, What's the price range I could be looking at for a paint job? Mind you, I'm not trying to make a show car but I'd like it to look decent. Thanx guys.

Let m eget this stright is has 140k+ miles and is a 89 and need Body Work and he wants 3200...... thats Way Way to muchmore like 1,000 MAX paint for a hole car will be from 900-5K that 900 is if you do it your self..

Just my $.02 but that way too much for that car. Book value from KBB. com suggests around 2400.00 for a loaded notchback. My buddy just bought a 91 GT from Florida that need a paint job and it has a cowl hood and a cobra wing on it, and 3.73's. He paid 1700.00 for it with 68K on the car. I'd look around more if I were you. If that engine hasn't been torn down and serviced than you're asking for trouble. Usually 5.0's need to be rebuit around the 100K range due to weak valve springs, timing chain, etc. But to answer your question, between 1000.00-1500.00 for paint that won't look like crap. If you don't mind the orange peel finish than 700 bucks should be good for someone to sand and squirt it.

Good luck.

I agree....he's crazy to think he can get $3200 fo it. Offer him $1500-$2000......that's all it's worth.

Absolutely too much for the car. Keep looking! Or break him down to $1K-$1.7K. Good luck;)

Slap him in the face and tell him what year were in.;) That's way too much. Be patient, you'll find one worth buying. You just need to be careful. I speak from experience.

Good Luck, James

I agree with James,

Keep looking.... you will find the right car....took me over 6 months.

If you are moving to Florida, wait until you get down there.... less chance of rust!

Thats way too much for that car, since your moving to my town....Sebring, Florida, let me tell you, you can find some real steals down here, I just missed out getting a black 93 hatch, with 90K miles for $1100.00 bucks, it was an auto and the A/C worked great.

What brings you to Sebring?:D
