Electric Fan

I wanna get rid of my clutch fan I have a 90gt 5spd and its stock and the fan is loud as hell so I was wondering if theres something I can do or to just get a eletric fan to quiet it down.

You could upgrade to an electric fan, but the stock alternator will NOT support the electric fan. Most recommend just replacing the factory fan clutch and staying with the mechanical fan...it depends what you want and how much you are willing to spend. Oh, and the electric fan you might find to be louder anyway...I know mine is very loud.

Yes, I have a black majic electric fan on my stang and you can hear it when I'm at idle. It's ok (sound wise) but I would like it to be a little quieter. As long as it does it's job and is NOT louder then my exhaust, I'm happy. :) It does cool my engine really good too ;)

I just installed a Black Magic fan and it works pretty good. It DOES work with my stock alternator. It is kind of loud, but its not that bad. The install was a breeze.

mustang92lx - I give you a week until you run your battery dead. I went through the exact same thing. I thought that the stock alternator would support it and then not a week later my battery was dead. Maybe yours is different, good luck anyway.

I am running a blackmagic fan in my 91 GT with the stock altenator.

It is also hard wired in so it will continue to run to cool the car down after the car is off. I also have a standard battery. I have been running this setup for about a year and have had no problems with it. Can't hear it when the engine is running.

Maybe you had an altenator that wasn't working correctly or a battery that had been fried.

Joe50, its been in a little over a month, and I also have it wired to run with the car off.

We're running a black-magic fan. No problems with the stock alternator and stock pullies. When we put on underdrive pullies required an alternator upgrade to 130A.

I've always went down to the local junkyard and ask to look at the electric fans that they've taken off some of the wrecked cars. Picked out the one that looked the best to be and put it on. Spent like $20-$25 total. I wired it in to run all the time (while the car is running). Never had any problems with charging or keeping it cool.
