Polishing Tail Lights

Did a search but couldn't find anything specific about polishing tail lights/lenses. I know this is done all the time, but I don't want to ruin my lights. If someone could give me a step-by-step explanation I would greatly appreciate it.

Best i can tell you is go to your local sears or sears hardware. They sell a buffing/polishing kit. it has a compound for polishing plastics and comes with the buffing wheels. you just need a drill. Also if you do do this, go easy. Dont press to hard or stay in one spot to long or you could burn through the plastic with ease. Hope this helps

Mother's sells a "cleaning polish" for detailing.

Go get some of that crap.

Buy some high (I mean HIGH) count metal finishing sandpaper (like 300ct or more.... 440 is optimal)

Very lighty and smoothly use the polish and sandpaper in a circular motion.

That should work perfectly. However, if you use like wood sandpaper (100 grit) you'll need new lights cause they will be totally useless and destroyed.

Go to a marine supply store and buy the plastic polish for windshields. It works great, and is a lot cheaper, and they give you a spray cleaner that will not scratch the lenses again when you wash the car.

Good luck!
