GT Bumper
Do we REALLY need a GT Bumper when converting to true dual exhaust? I'm sure there are ways around it and keeping the stock bumper cover......right?
|
No you do not have to switch out bumpers unless you want to "look" like a GT other wise as long as you place the pipes right you dont need a GT bumper. However if you leave the stock v-6 bumper it will be obvious the car is not a GT but simply a V-6 with duals.
Hope I helped |
That's ok, It's the look we prefer........we want people to know it's a V-6, especially when it gets blown

I am going to put duel exhaust on my Stang soon, and been thinking about the same thing,
1. Get a GT bumper 2. Cut out the stock bumper or 3. Just exit under the stock bumper I seen a couple of V6 Stangs with duels that exit under the stock bumper and they look good, and like you said if I wanted to look like a GT I would get A GT,I don't want the car to look like something it Isn't |
Do not cut the v6 bumper. It looks bad plus it drops the value of the car. Put it under or a new rear bumper. Putting it under does not look too bad at all.
|
Why waste the money on a GT bumper when the only difference is the little cuts. Just get the pipes that hang below, several around me have them like that...its just the riced out V6's with GT badging that has the GT bumpers.

There is a good article about this at v6power.net.

GT takeoff bumper covers are available at MPS for $80.00. I got mine there. Looks good and was easy to install. http://www.stangparts.com/
