Better 60ft.

With my car stock I ran a 14.8 at 92.8mph. I then installed 3.73 and a H-pipe. The best I could do last night was a 15.1 at 95.7mph. My 60ft. went from a 2.2 to a 2.5 I know I need practice with launching the new gears but is there any other pointers you guys can give me.

The best way to stop this is to buy tires. I would say BFGoodriche Drag radials if you want to keep it very streetable. If you don't want tires, try different launch techniques to the point of just breaking the tires loose. Another way to help is to start modifying your suspension for racing, and this could help 60 foots.

Good luck!

Wow. You actually have the capability of improving into a 13sec car with a good launch on drag radials. Good drivers on street tires would drop a 2.0 60ft down, and that would put you at a real low 14. Tires are definately a good way to go. Those 3.73's are definately going to need some more traction.

What suspension mods can I do to improve my 60ft.

(Mickey Thompson E.T drags are on order)

i run nitto drag radials on my car. i get my best 60 ft. by lowering the air pressure in the tires to 15 psi. and launching off idle and gradually pressing down on the gas, on the point of grip and slip, and as soon as it bites i go full throttle. i also run mac upper and lower control arms.

I found that lower control arms helped with my traction problems but there's no replacing a good set of tires, I would opt for tires first. You must be happy with the increase in MPH though?Practice your launch with good DR and low 14s should come pretty easily!

That's what I'm expecting too. Good tires and good launch technique will yield low 14's with your current set up. Personally, I doubt you will see 13's without some more mods that get trap speed up closer to 100.

Thanks for the help guys, I am definately grabing a set of drag radials.

ThreePonyStable 06-09-2002 09:32 PM

With drag radials 13s can be done with a mid 90s mph. I'm sure you could see 13s, but don't count on it or you will be disappointed.

Sometimes it takes a little practice when you've made changes. Last week I was running 2.2 60' times all night with a best of 2.199, Keep in mind I've got 17" 235/45's and eibach sportlines and Tokico shocks (al the wrong parts for the drags), while this friday I couldn't best a 2.4! (the only time I did, I missed second :o ) I gained 3.5mph through tuning though, I am going to practice some more because I know that I'm capable of doing better, right now I'm embarassed that I have a car that does 104mph but can't get out of the 14's (14.071 to be exact).
Keep practicing but if I could afford it, I'd just get a sticky set of tires because they'll always be faster.
