The DR's obviously help with the holeshot in a straight line, but how are they in the twisties. I don't know if i am ready to sacrafice all of the cornering ability. Logic would say that if it is a sticky tire, it should stick in the corners too, but i don't know how the tread pattern effects that. what do you guys think?

NT555s are pretty good, but if you want the all around best hold from a tire get toyo proxies TS-1. nothing holds better for a DR. I'll be getting these for my GT when I get my 18" wheels. strait line, or cornering. stellar tire. read up on it at www.toyo.com.

Yes they offer good straightline poerformance, but I would never use them for road racing. The sidewall will flex too much in the twisties. For road racing, I suggest you go with the 555RIIs. They were designed for road racing (very strong sidewall). Both tires need to be warmed up to hook well, tread pattern is the same, the sidewall structure is what makes them different.

And don't EVER get sick with the GT on DR's in the rain!!!

I realize you are probably not going to want to go road racing with them, but will they still have acceptable cornering traction, lets say at least as good as the stock rubber?

the 555Rs will not, the toyo proxies and 555 (no R) will do very well for cornering..... toyo was the best for a while, no idea who it is now, but I still love their rubber.....
