Sedanman goes 12's

Well I finally got the 12 sec time slip I have been trying so hard for. The car went 12.86@107.19 with a 1.94 60ft. (dr's). It was a nice night out about 70 low humidity.

I also ran a 01 cobra vert. with a blower, the guy was kinda rude so I did not get the whole scoop but it went like high 13's  at like 104 he was not happy when I beat him even though I missed second.

Dark_5.0 06-19-2002 11:15 AM

awesome times.....I am gunning for 12's this year myself. That is really impressive when you consider your 60ft isnt that great.

congrats.

Congrats on the 12 sec slip! Time for some steeper gears and that n20 kit and deep into the 11's eh?

FivepointOH 06-19-2002 12:25 PM

Oh and am I reading your sig right are you running no mufflers with just dumps after the hpipe? How loud is that and did you notice a power increase?

Skyman 06-19-2002 12:56 PM

Finally a 12 second pass, but when are you going to stop missing gears. :)

Did u miss it on that 12sec pass?

Nice times. Congrats on the 12 second slip.

I'd be pissed if I had a blown-Cobra and only trapped 104 mph. Shouldn't one of those trap over 104 in stock trim? I guess I've never seen one run at the track.....

mysweetlx 06-19-2002 01:36 PM

Very nice. Congrats. Yeah, did you hit 12's w/ missing 2nd?

302 LX Eric 06-19-2002 02:31 PM

Congrats on the 12 sec timeslip! You couldn't have missed 2nd on that run! :D

I bet the longtubes helped out nicely. Something I've been wanting to switch to.

Again, nice job! :)

Oh, and 104 out of a new Cobra - I'd be pissed!

ricekilla 06-19-2002 08:05 PM

nice. i wish i could pull a 12 before i get my new heads, cam, intake. i'm getting a 2.2 60 ft. w/ nitto drag radials at 15 psi. and mac upper and lowers w/ a pinion snubber. if i could get my 60 ft. into the 1.80's or 90's i could prob. pull it off. any sugesstions?

Congrats man I wish I could have joined you but I had some work to do. Great run. I guess I'm gonna need some DR's to hang with you.:)

A 2.2 60 ft with DRs is a problem. You need to play with your launch technique. Spinning is real bad. Bogging is better than spinning. I've never used the Nitto's, but I would expect better 60 fts out of them. You may want to ask some others that run the tires how they get their best results........

I've pulled 2.1 with street tires..... not great, but the Nittos should perform better I would think.

Skyman 06-19-2002 11:21 PM

Its not your tires. Carlsbad doesnt hook unless you have slicks.

Yeah the bottle should be on before the end of the summer, and when I redo the rearend I am thinking of putting 4:10's in but we will see, no matter what I will probably step up to 3.73's.

No mac produmps are a flow tube, chambered muffler and turndown all in one peice. I will try to get a link to the website that showes them. I put them on at the same time I put my LT's on so its hard to tell what I gaind from which. The produmps have a really deep mean sound at idle (I freqently get asked if I have a 351 in it) and a raspy sound at WOT, they are pretty loud at idle then they quite down a little in mid range but at WOT they are really loud.

I to am running mac control arms, I used nitto's before I ran my BFG's. The difference between a 2.2 60ft and a 1.9 is all in one word BURNOUT. Pull into the burnout box and do a second gear burnout and burn them tell you clearly see smoke (like the whole back of the car is in a smoke cloud). Early in the night well I was trying to sort out the launches I was getting 2.1's and running 13.1's. Then I did the hard burnouts and dropped to 1.9's. I plan on working them down to 1.8's.

No I did not miss any gears on the 12.8 run, on the run against the cobra I did miss a gear and went a 13.50@105.8 or something like that, he went like 13.8@104.

Congrats Sedanman!!

60ft times at Carlsbad are very unpredictable on certain days. I've been running on street tires and the run in my sig was with a 2.2. I managed to pull a 2.0x once, but then my tires broke loose after the 60ft mark (kinda wierd), and I couldn't stay in it for the run. I'm wishing I had some tires to break into the 12 sec range. My car can do it, and I believe I can drive it there, but I need a 60ft time under 2 to achieve it. I may be able to go on Saturday, but I'm not sure yet. Is anyone else thinking of being there on Sat?

Skyman 06-20-2002 03:29 AM

I am thinking about it...

Lemme know.
