Clutch advice for '93 GT

My '93 Mustang GT clutch is just about gone.
I have never replaced a clutch before.
Any suggestions on service and clutch recommendations would be appreciated.

Has any one had any luck with the Ford Racing
Cobra clutch kit? Or any other brand of clutch and pressure plate?

My want list consists of
Clutch
Pressure plate
throwout bearing
pilot bearing
clutch cable

Is there anything else that I need?

Thanks Todd5.0

I'd would also replace the stock aluminum bearing retainer with a new steel bearing retainer. Cost is about $40.00 so its not too bad. You might also want to consider putting new bushings and trans mount on the cross member since it will be off too. I replaced mine with Energy suspension polyurethane bushings and mount.

Get your self a Haynes manual. This way you'll under stand how to remove and reinstall clutch. It will so give you all your torque specs. Think about fire wall adjuster and quad. to replace plastic self- adjuster at clutch pedal. When trans is out put synthetic ATF in. Give me an e-mail about any questions.

Yeah the motorsport HD will make you happy. And do the steel bearing retainer...the stocker will groove out..(if it hasn't already)
Replace the stock quadrant(hardest part is getting the plastic stock one off)
And the energy suspension tranny mounts are awesome too. it's pretty easy...do it yourself, and w/ the money you save do an h-pipe back replacement(it all has to come off...you might as well make it real easy and cut it all off) I can do the swap myself in about 4 hours now.
The clutch, plate and T.O. bearing come in the motorsport kit...you should get an alignment tool($5)....and do the rear main seal while your in there...(takes about 10 minutes only) you will need the pilot bearing though...i never replaced mine, but think it just pops out.
The summit adj. cable looks identical to the rest for around $79.
Good luck.................

I was unaware the exhaust had to come off?

I've pulled about 10 T-5's and I've never had to remove anything put the cats. The stock or aftermarket catback has never been in the way, really.

You'll need a clutch alignment tool, and a book containing torque specs.

Don't skimp on the cluch man.

I'd go with a Centerforce, King Cobra, Motorsport HD, or at least something that offers superior holding capacity than the cheap stock unit. Any heavy duty clutches should also get the adjustable quadrent too. If you choose and adjustable quadrent, I'd recommend Steeda, they have a knob that you use to adjust the clutch, located inside the car. Very nice.

Thanks to all you Mustangers for the input

I finished the car up and just got back from driving it around. It will take me awhile to get use to the stiffness of the clutch pedal.
I killed the engine twice!! The new clutch really grabs.

Here is what I replaced
Pilot bearing
Ford Racing HD Clutch Kit
Ford Racing clutch cable
Ford bearing retainer
Rear main seal

It feels like a new car again with 95K on it
