GT or Coupe?
 

I'm looking to buy a 94-95 mustang. The first thing I'll be doing to it is put a new motor in. So this is my question is there anything different about the power train in a GT vs a Coupe besides the engine? I know that shocks, spring, wheels, ground effects and various other things are better but for someone that's going to replace those with aftermarket parts n-e-ways is the V6 coupe the way to go? Would it's tranny, axle, and clutch be able to handle the extra power?

Unless the definition of coupe has changed,there were no 94-95 coupes.

They did have a stripped down version of a GT without a rear spoiler,fog lamps and the like but if you are talking GT and notchback then that clears the air a little more.

Are you talking GT vs a notchback(one with the trunk) or you just talking a stripped down SN95 body style?

I think he means GT vs V6. I dont think the v6 has the 8.8 Rear End. also transmission should be different, and no rear sway bar on v6. Also computer is different, wiring harness, etc. Other wise, the shell is the same

I've always considered a coupe as the base model of a car, so yes I'm talking about the V6. The main thing that I'm worried about is if the tranny and the axle will withstand 300+ HP. Anybody know where I can find detailed stats on the V6 model or the GT?

The tranny won't bolt to a V-8 and if you could it would blow. The rear-end is also gonna blow with that much power, it's just a 7.5

By the way, the definition of a coupe is a car with 2 doors and a hardtop. Some people don't call cars with hatch backs coupes, but others do.

Someone correct me if I am wrong or just give your defintion.

Well since I am a Mustang fanatic there is only one type pf coupe in my opinion,and that coupe is a 79-93 Fox body with 2 doors a hard top,and a trunk like what the highway patrol used to have before they went to the GM junk,to me that is a coupe.

Hey, RPM, how do you like the TFS heads with that cam combo? I am thinking about doing the same setup on my 85 with a carb. (see Winsdor Power, 302 rebuild suggestions). Your input is appreciated, before i go spending thousands of dollars.

The cam seems to work great, I would have had the heads milled slightly but the piston to valve clearance was very close. It pulls hard all the way up to 6200, I had to raise the idle up a bit, other then that, I couln't be happier.

I love the cylinder heads. If you have heard how TFS used to install crappy valve giudes, they changed that so don't worry. They flow 250 cfm right out of the box, for $1050 its worth it. I could also run a bigger valve size since the valves are centered over the relieves now. Another selling point to me was how they can be ported to 320+ cfm, So when I get my 408 short block from DSS next year, I will have them ported to stage 3 for $1000.
