2 sway or not 2sway
 

I am going to the track in 2 weeks or so and I have been throwing around the idea of taking my front sway bar off for the track or just loosing it . is it worth the trouble to take it off and how would it help ? I am going to be running on street tires.

Its worth it at the track, less weight and better weight distribution. If this car get driven on the road much I wouldnt just ditch it.

Just take it off right before you go to the track and be careful on the turns!

I've been struggling with this also. I know alot of guys who are running around town w/o their sway bars. I don't know that I want to commit myself to straight line driving all the time. I want to be able to dive into a corner if I want to, so I'm keeping mine for now. I feel like if I pull it off for the track I might be too lazy to put it back on. It's like the question of whether to pull my A/C or not. Decisions decisions:p

I would get traction bars if you drive this car on the road frequently. Your car will handle like slop if you take it out. It loosens up the front which is good for transferring weight to the rear of the car.

If you get traction bars (/control arms) you get the benefit of weight transfer, without the drawback of the loss of handling. They are relatively cheap too :), which is always a plus.

Lose it, mine is daily driven with no sway bar, but the strut tower bar, subframes and all of the suspension makes up for it too.

You can still have it as a daily driver, but I like driving my stang so much partially because of the handling...

My favorite part of the commute is this long windy road where I can take every corner at a 'nice' speed :). Depends where your priorities are though.

If you like DRAG RACING better then AUTO CROSSING ditch the sway bar. It's not that sloppy, you just cant take corners as fast. I would never run a sway bar again, I love the way the front end picks up without it.

For the sake of comparison.........I ditched my sway bar and ran exactly the same at the track.....For me it wasnt worth it.

I ditched mine and ran exacty the same time too, I can tell a little difference in the front end jumping but not much. Every little bit helps though, I drive mine daily and can't really tell a difference in day to day driving.

I read in Mustangs Monthly that Pauls High Performance makes a 2002 Drag Pack Mustang that has a kwik disconnect sway bar. That sounded like the idea that i had been looking for. I e-mailed them and asked if the hardware for the sway bar was available for my coupe, but i never received a response.

Has anyone else heard of a kwik disconnect swaybar for Mustangs?

Its not that big a deal, I drive my everyday on the street w/ no sway bars and drag suspension. Its nothing to even worry about. If you wanna take it off do it. It aint that hard to put back on, and it really doesnt affect u that much.
