Quarter windows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Would anyone know a good way to make my quarter windows shine again, or at least look decent? There all faided as ususal. I tried sanding them, and painted with high gloss black, but they look like *****. I need help FAST. This car is going to be painted on July 8.
Thanks Guys/Gals ;) |
Your best bet is probably to do a search on this topic.
I have heard many different things to do to help out these pitted areas. Some say black shoe polish, some take the windows out, spread filler(bondo) throughout the trim, sand it down, then paint... Good Luck! |
Are you talking about the acual glass or the black molding? If you are talking about the black moulding, Steeda sells some cool pieces that cover up the old moulding, you wouldn't even know its been done.

Ya, sorry I am talking about the molding. I'll look into the Steeda moldings.

Tired window moldings
Depends on how far gone they are. If you've already sanded and painted them and they still look bad, you're probably screwed.
My body man told me that past a certain point the plastic is not repairable no matter what you do. He said he's tried and failed more than once (and he's a real pro) and has now given up on restoring Mustang window moldings. He suggested buying new quarter windows (the moldings are attached to the windows as one piece) as the only real solution. He gave me a 'good guy price' of $325. per side. I passed. There are covers you can buy and a few guys have reported cleaning and painting them successfully. It's a bit of a long shot but worth trying considering the obscene price for new windows and moldings when all you really need is the molding. Good luck; let us know how this comes out for you. |
