99 Cobra oil consupmtion!!!

A buddy of mine owns a 99 Cobra that he just bought with 24,000 miles on the clock. The car is in mint condition and is always babied and only has been got on a few times on the street. When we went to a cruise on saturday, he started his car up and a puff of smoke came out the tail pipes. It does not do this if you start it up when it sits for a short period, only when it sits for over a half hour or so.

Has any of you heard of any problems with the 99's?

I had a truck that had a recall on the intake gaskets and the syptoms where the same.

Thanks,
Mike

That's normal for a 99 Cobra.:D

Really?

That much smoke seems a little odd, like it has an intake leak or something.

The car had the fix before my buddy bought it, so I figured maybe it was because of that. The car is stock and runs fairly strong, I dont know if it is as quick as my 82 GT with 3.73's and some modifications because it is a convertable and is a bit heavier than my car.

So if my buddy just keeps an eye on his oil consumption, he should do ok with the car?

Thanks,
Mike

Yes! If I leave my car sit for a long time it will do the same thing. My car has 54k on it and uses 1qt every 5K.
