Tranny Question
Would a 4-cyl. tranny work on a 5.0? keep in mind--i am a beginner
|
....
No, I think the input shaft is longer or shorter. Someone will reply.
|
I dont think it will work . but I know it would not live to long if it did work a v8 makes to much hp and tq stock and who keeps there car stock. I would mod a mini van if I had one
|
It will work. You'll have to replace the pilot bearing for the smaller input shaft of the 4cyl tranny though. Also, be sure to get a cell phone. The first time you hammer the accelorator you'll frag the tranny. The 4cyl trannys use weaker components than the 5.0 trannys.
If you still have the 5.0 tranny you should think about having Bob Hanlon rebuild it. It probably wouldn't cost you more than $500, and that includes shipping. |
How do I get a hold of Bob Hanlon?
Let me know, because my tranny is getting there. Thanks, Keith

im pretty sure that you cant just put in a 4cylinder pilot bearing. you would have to modify it. i dont think that would work to good. (i have heard that you have to get a 4cylinder bearing and grind it down to make it work. in other words your better off rebuilding the one you have, or if you dont have one. getting a tremec.
