Help With Brakes, No Pedal?

I have an 84 GT. I have manual brakes on it. I got the master cylinder from outlaw racing. When we bleed the brakes we get fluid out all four corners(used a whole can of fluid already.) The problem is that when you hit the pedal the first time it goes all the way to the floor. You have to pump it several times to get any pedal out of it. Anybody else had this problem? Planning on taking the car to the track for the first time but I would like to have brakes on it first.

Did you bench bleed the master cylinder before you installed it?

Take care,

It sounds like your master cylinder is still bleeding off. It is brand new isn't it? I assume this is why you put another one on.

Are you sure that your front lines are not blocked any kind of way? I am talking about the little short rubber hose that runs from somewhere in the fenderwell to the caliper.

I don't believe we bench bled the master cylinder. How is that done? I don't think there is a blockage or there would not be any fluid coming out. I am be no means a brake man.

The problem is that there is still air inside the valve in the master. It MUST be bench bled first. This is done by mounting it in a vise, running lines from both ports back into the reservoir, filling with fluid, and pumping the master with a large screwdiver slowly, until no more air bubbles come out of the valve. There should have been instructions included with the master cylinder.

Take care,
-Chris
