Got my Maaco paint job back!
 

I have to say it looks pretty good. No runs in the paint. Some deep scratches were not filled in, so they show through in some spots, but I didn't really pay to have that done. Actually, my uncle worked it all out to be free :D! I walked out of the shop with about a thousand dollars worth of work for nothing! Now, hopefully it doesn't start falling off in a week.

I know after the debate in the windsor forum I was worried, but I am pleased. The guy who did mine was even talking about the horrible job done at some shops. Just depends where you go I guess.

I know everyone will want to see pics, but it may be a while. I don't have a digital camera and the closest scanner is down at my dad's.

Sounds good, a buddy of mine had Maaco paint his '88 Celeb, and if you've seen a celeb before there known for there rust and his had a fair amount and they did all his body work and painted it for $1200 Canadian and I must say it didn't look half bad. He was quite happy about it. What colour did you paint it anyway?

Let us know how the paint holds up :) I have heard a lot of bad things about em, yet still might have them paint my car after I prep it. :)

In my experience the reason why alot of those cheap paint jobs peel after only a couple of years is shoddy prep work. Those guys can spray just fine, so I think it's best to do your own prep work if you know how and then let them spray it. That's most of the labor of painting a car anyway.

yup, from I hear they spray good, just prep crappy :( I will most definately do the prep work myself.

Yea, I am anxious to see how the paint holds up, as I have heard the same. I had it painted red again. I forget the exact name of the color, but it was the factory color from 1990. I thought about going with something else, but didn't want the inside of the doors and everything a different color than the outside.

The paint won't win any car shows, but hopefully I can keep it looking good for a few years.

I am getting mine painted Civic Si blue, and all I need it to do is last another year, which I know it should, especially since there is a 1 year warranty. The only thing that will be white is the engine bay, everything else will be blue.

I hope they have upgraded the quality of their paint, they used to get crappy primer that came in a 55 gallon drum. The guy I bought my stang from had it painted at Maaco 2 years before I bought it. I owned it for 6 months and then the paint just went dull, then it started to come off of the bumpers. You could see the original paint and it was still shiny! Oh well, now it's getting a new paint job. Not by Maaco.

nickj8685 - Are you a student in Columbia or do you live there permanently? I go to MU and will be heading back that way before to long. Just wondering.

btw, each level of paint job that Maaco offers uses different products. The more expensive package you buy from them, the better paint and primer they use. I had a medium grade deal put on my that is supposed to contain a higher content of solids in the paint than the cheap stuff....hopefully it lasts for a while.

No I'm not a student. I've lived here for 2 years. My fiance and I are getting ready to move to my home town of Russellville. It's about 60 miles from Columbia. Hope your paint job holds up.

Nick, I grew up in Eldon and spent most of my adult life in Jefferson City. They had a pretty good club in J.C.- Central Mo. Mustangs. A real ford MUSTANG guy is Floyd Siebeneck, in Brazito. Being from Russelville I,m sure you have seen some of his cars. He has a 64 1/2 convertable and a 68 1/2 Shelby GT 500 KR convertable that he used to show. The club had a show last month in Columbia. If you have ANY stang questions you need to hook up with Floyd. He knows some about late-models as well as vintage.
