4 lug?
Other than wheel selection, is there really any need to convert to 5 lug for occasional drag use and once a week daily driving?
|
most go to the 5 to get good disk Brakes and it will Hold more Power if it is One Really mean Motor.
|
driver's side(I think) Ranger axles and Mark IIV rotors.
|
i did it for the wheels and i got better brakes in the prosess but you can upgrade your brakes without converting baer makes a 4 lug kit
|
aftermarket companies make some seriously strong 4 lug axles if you are wanting to stay with them. Moser and Strange both make them I believe.

To answer your question though, you shouldn't have to go to 5 lug if the application isn't for drag all the time and if the torque level is average. Your four lugs will hold out just fine.:D

That was what I was really concerned about. If I do turn it into a full time drag car, then I will get another Stang to put the rims and Baer brake system that I have planned.
I was just concerned that getting 4 lug rims was a bad idea with my app. |
4 OR 5 LUG
This is a debate that is starting to pick up steam also,if you want more of a variety of different rims then get the 5 lugs.
There are some good selections of 4 lug out there, but most people get Weld Drag Lites,Enkei,Center Lines and the like and it takes a while to get 4 lugs sometimes, most people stock 5 lugs in 4.5 bolt circle right there. In the end,it is all a matter of personal taste, have seen 8 sec. cars with 4 lug axles, and have seen 13 sec. cars with 5 lugs, all a matter of taste and what you want. |
