Demolition derby results

The demolition derby was this last weekend and I had been helping with three of the cars that entered. I missed the first day on Saturday because I went to the Rockies game with this girl I have been trying to get with.:D I guess all three cars didn't fair to well and no one did anything exciting, except on of the cars broke its engine mounts and couldn't run again on Sunday.:(

On Sunday one of the cars did really well in its heat and took out about eight other cars. By the end of the heat its back end was completley vertical so that you couldn't see out the back and it had no reverse. He eneded up getting fifth place and the top four advance to the finals. It was very controversial whether he ahould have been fourth or even third as at the end five cars were stuck together and could not move so the picked the four to advance. He didn't run the consolation because his car was so messed up.

The other car did okay in his heat, but was knocked out early. Then in his consolation heat his car kept stalling and spent half the time trying to get it started. Because of this he didn't get hit or hit anyone much and actually was one of the last four running and made it to the finals, very cool. We found out why his car wasn't running well in the pits. His frame had been smashed into his engine block on the passenger side and had smashed two spark plugs. We tried to pull the frame away with a tow truck, but just couldn't the thing to move. He ended up goin into the finals on six cylinders. In the finals he did very well and was about 15 out 40 cars. He got black flagged because he hit the drivers side of one of the cars. Doh!

The two guys left at the end would not hit each other, it was very frustrating and the crowd even started booing. Then people started to leave because it took so long. Finally one of the cars steering went out and he gave up.

Overall it was very fun and educational. Now I have to find a car so I can run in it next year.
:D :D :D

Anyone have any suggestions on what kind of car I should get. I was thinking of a 70's Cadilac with the huge engines, but I don't know if they have a strong frame or are good for derby cars. Everyone around here has an Imperial or a Newport. Not that I want a ciggarette as a car..... j/k. :D Anyone have any suggestions for a derby car it would be greatly appreciated.

Muchas gracias

1970 Cadillac CDV. They can usually be found for $500 in the local paper, and are virtually impossible to kill.

Cool, Thanks for the info. Half the cars in the derby here were Imperials and everyone was taliking about how awesome they are and how they are going to outlaw them cause they are so good in the derby. I want something original and not so common. The Imperials are freakin expensive too, because of the derby, this guy was bragging because he bought one in Texas that did not run at all for $400 and he had to tow it back. Apparentley if you buy one here it is atleast $1000 for the body and that it is it. No motor tranny or anything. It seems ridiculous to me.

Maybe I can get Mustang Works to sponser me too? That would be cool, could always use some extra cash. :D

Hey, I don't do that anymore, that was back in my Boulder days. Now it is strictly Bourbon and Coke, which isn't much better. :D Actually it's time to go to bed, so C'ya.:D
