Good Luck! Are you going to do any all motor passes? Also, how much nitrous are you running?

GOOD LUCK!

*Shaking fist in frustration*

Man, I'm golfing tomorrow. I want to see that car run first hand. Let us know how you do.

Rev 07-12-2002 09:26 PM

Update?

Give us an update on the new set up Skyman, I'm way behind.

Sky, what do you think it'll run? High 11's? Low 12's?

exgmguy 07-13-2002 09:58 AM

I am thinking mid-lower 12's on the motor, and broken T-5, uhhh I mean lowe 11's on the hose. :D

Skyman 07-14-2002 12:47 AM

No Broken Parts! Sorry Rob :)

Well Im dissappointed in the MPH, my car refuses to see 110.

I played with shift points from 5700-6100rpm. Found the best to be 5800, and got a couple of 12.3@108.7mph runs.

Best 60' was 1.66.

My car was doing something really weird though. On my launch, I was trying to get upto about 6000rpm, and soon as my car that high, it would just die out to about 1500rpm suddenly. Really strange. So the highest launch I got was about 5200rpm on the 1.66 60'.

Want to hear something even stranger? My friends full weight 88 coupe with a 11:1 306 and TFS heads went 11.9@113 on 8.5" slicks, koni reds, and racecraft lowering springs ON A 1.59 60'!!

Made my drag suspension car look stupid! Figure that one out!

BTW they closed the track early and there was a long delay from a broken car, so I only got 4 motor passes and none on the N20. SO next time for the nitrous.

exgmguy 07-14-2002 12:55 AM

I told ya you'd go faster with the Holley. :D

What about the spray?

It must be the air out there or something, because even the new cars you see at your track don't run like they do on my side of the country. I saw a new ZO6 today with only Nitto drag radials going 12.2-12.3's @ 116. That is pretty damn impressive.

Skyman 07-14-2002 12:58 AM

Yeah I dunno, my buddys 11:1 coupe ran well.

I only gained 1mph from the holley though, and I did other things as well. So Im going to mess w/ the car some more. I really think that 110 has to be hiding in it somewhere now.

Also I did run a short belt for the powersteering and smog pump.

There was a 03 Cobra, he was iceing the intake, and doing everything he could. He went 13.0@111.

There was also a brand new lightning. Kid only got it to go 14.4@97mph.

My friends 90 coupe w/ heads/cam/intake and all the rest was only going 103-104, can't figure that one out.

The density altitude at carlsbad yesterday was around 1400 feet, which isn't all that great. With better air, you will probably see 110mph traps.

Skyman 07-14-2002 01:29 PM

TJR- How did you find that out?

NO SLO PK 07-14-2002 02:05 PM

Hey Sky,

I'm disappointed I never got a chance to use your drag slicks. Best time was 12.9 at 113.

I spun through first and had a 2.3 60 foot. That was on the BFG drag radials, go figure.

I was disappointed they shut down the track early. I could have used more time for tuning...the mph was still kinda shy of where I thought it should be.

IMO your Saleen still launches hard...impressive as always.

Skyman 07-14-2002 02:22 PM

Yeah Russ, I would imagine there is still a lot more in your car, especially w/ the slicks.

When did you put on edelbrock heads? How much boost are you running?

Skyler

NO SLO PK 07-14-2002 02:51 PM

I put the Edelbrocks on back in Dec.ember. They were just sitting around and I was going to use them on the Lightning, but I changed my mind.

I get about 9-10 lbs. in the manifold, I think. It's hard to read the boost gauge when watching for redline.

I also think my car was suffering from "one-wheelitis". Basically 140k miles on the stock traction loc with no rebuild. I'm going to rebuild the trak-loc and put in 3.55s at the same time.

TJR- How did you find that out?
I was bored....so I looked up yesterday afternoon's preliminary weather conditions for San Diego (couldn't find Carlsbad), track altitude, estimated the relative humidity, and plugged the numbers into a density altitude calculator.

Altitude (track) = 200ft
Temperature = 72*F
Barometric Pressure = 29.86 inHg
Relative Humidity = 75% (est.)
Density Altitude Calculator

DA = +1422 ft.

Hopefully, the values I used were close to the actual numbers. I like to use the calculator as a rough estimate to determine if the air is good or not.

Sideways LX 07-14-2002 06:20 PM

Defenitely had a good time saturday. What MPH gains could we expect it the air was better? Heres a video of me racing a new SS. This pass was as 12.05@112. Have more videos later tonight so long as Skyler can host them. http://www.mustangworks.com/rides/vi...g692-slot6.wmv

Skyman 07-14-2002 10:11 PM

Well I put in the actual numbers from yesturday.

I found our density altitude to be 2600feet! Corrected it for sealevel.

That converts my time from 12.33@108.8 to 12.0@112.3

Sideways LX's 11.96@113 = 11.63@116.5. Our barometric pressure was pretty low yesturday, which I think accounted for some bad #'s, even though I was happy w/ what I got.

TJR 07-14-2002 11:30 PM

Barometric pressure and temperature makes a big difference in DA. The barometric pressure has been high around here lately, but so has the temps (85-90*F). We have been seeing DAs from +2200 to +2500ft the last couple of weekends (Norwalk & Milan).
