How many quarts does a stock AOD hold?
I'm looking into draining out my el cheapo tranny fluid and pouring in some B&M Trick Shift. How many quarts will I need and will I need a new seal for the pan? (it was replaced about a year or so ago when I installed a TransPak)
PS- If anybody has used this Trick Shift stuff, let me know how you like it. ------------------ 1991 LX 5.0 Convertible AOD w/ shift kit Chassis: Steeda cross-brace SFCs, Steeda G-load brace, Steeda strut-tower brace, 4-pt. I am changing my fluid right now. I can let you know exactly if you like, once it's done.
When I had the tranny out and installed new converter and valve body, I used almost 9 qt. Now I'm changing the fluid after break-in, and by the looks of what came out (in the pan and on the floor) it will take about 4-5 qts. But I'm also installing a cooler at this time. I doubt it'll make a major difference but I'm sure I have to add a little more. I didn't take a chance with the gasket. You should change the filter as long as the pan is off, even if it hasn't been that long. All filters come with the gasket and only cost 6-7 bucks. ------------------ '92 GT conv.
