Who has a turbo?

I have been out of my car for 2 1/2 years. I just bought an engine. I am putting all my stuff on it, then put it in and get the buggs out. I do have to replace 3rd gear and the blocking ring in my tremac. All this will take a little time. My big question is this. What turbo kit is recomended. I don't want an all out race setup. But one that will add about 200hp. I have always been facinated by turbo's. It's what I want. And for those of you that are going to ask, Yes the speed density will stay as long as it can.

I know Inco went out of business but they were bought I believe they are now Pro Turbo. You can look at TDC as well have seen some good and bad info about them.

I run a Turbo Technology single turbo street kit and all I can say is great things about them. Pro Turbo and Cartech are two of the other heavy hitters when it comes to 5.0 turbo kits. All sell both single and twin turbo kits, although I would stay away from the twin kits only because a single will make enough power to split the block in two anyway and it's cramped in the engine compartment with a single, twins would be one big headache if you ask me. Any of the kits will give you the 200 hp your looking for, just make sure you tell them the specs on your motor so they can sell you the correct size turbo for your application. Too big and it will take for ever to spool and too small will make it runs out of breath before the motor makes peak power.

As far as the speed density, I don't have any experience with it and turbos, but I would start looking for a mass air conversion now if it was me.

I just came back from the dyno last weekend with a friend. He runs untouched TW heads, trick flow intake, stock cam, 42 lb injectors, 255 in-tank pump, and a Turbo Tech race kit with a T-72 turbo, all backed by a Tremec. Now the race kits do away with the ac and power steering and it really does empty up the engine compartment. It was 103 F in the dyno shop and he made 494 rwhp and 513 ft/lbs of torque. That night at the track he went 6.98 at 102 on ET streets. Oh yea, all on only 9 lbs of boost and pump gas. With race gas, 15 lbs, and some slicks he would have probably went mid 6's or better.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask, I'll help all I can.

88workcar , WOW, it's been a long time since I've seen you on here. Where have you been?
I know you don't know who I am but I have noticed that you have been gone a very long time. Welcome back!

Sorry I don't have any turbo answers for you.

well a friend has a turbo technoligies kit on his 88 s/d and the only real problem i know that he had was he needed to retard the timing way back . i dont know if he ever got a btm for his but
there are alot of people who make s/d work for them .

ps i think he ran an a Auxiliary fuel injector set up. a intercooler is a must and exhaust set up is important. i would build it and see what happens and go from there

I like all the response. I do have a complete mass air set up. I also have a conversion. I prefer the old school. Right now, I will go in with my ported cobra, an E, ported E7s, I need to smoke a few boys with a stock looking motor. I will then put AFRs and a Extreme Energy cam and a holly intake. Or if the bonus is big enough, The TURBO. If I stay away from the turbo right now, I will sell the banshee for the turbo. The banshee runs 7.20s @ 90mph 1.55 60fts. Were going thursday.
