Aluminum Driveshaft ?s

So, the tranny is out and having new synchros installed and the shift forks are getting replaced. It's gonna run me about $450. I dropped off an aluminim driveshaft to be installed when the tranny gets reinstalled.

Are there legitimate performance gains involved with the aluminum driveshaft? I like the theory of less spinning mass to the rear wheels.

I heard biggest difference from getting the new driveshaft was reduction in vibration through the car. Not aware of any perf gains.

Although the point you brought up might make a minute change, doubt it would yeild anything tangible.

Thanks,

lighter and stronger, any questions?

Removing rotating mass in the driveline is a good thing for horsepower. However, after installing my aluminum driveshaft I would estimate maybe a tenth gain in the 1/4 - at most.

I think I would gain much more by getting rid of my stock 'pony' wheels and replacing them with a nice set of super lightweight Bogarts! :D

It's a good mod, but not one that I would do first thing.
