TRANNY PONDERINGS
Well, I now have my tranny out of my 95 GT and am thinking about what to do. I was going to do a performance rebuild and put it back in but I have found that the only aftermarket computer that will allow me to use the AODE is Ford's EPEC ($1000 plus a $250 harness.) I would like to just use the SpeedBrain ($600) but it wont control an AODE. Yes an AOD is possible but.... Anyway, This tranny is going behind a 351 or 427 (450 ft-lbs) stroker so a T-5 is out. Now I have been reading about the T-56 swap for $2300 and an thinking about it since it, a manaul harness and a stock computer will be about the same price as the EPEC and the home rebuilt AODE. Cool factor is a plus but doesn't count. Has anyone went this route?
Thanks, Greg |
I'm running a T-56 in my 2000 and I love it, love it, love it. If you are asking if you should get the T-56 my vote is yes.
After driving my car with the T-56 I'm never thinking about an auto again. It's so smooth and positive. I've gotten so good with it that ppl who ride in my car think it is an auto. The .8 5th is a great around the town gear also. .62 for 6th is great for highway and interstate. My vote goes for the T-56. ------------------ 2000 Mustang GT [This message has been edited by white00GT (edited 04-26-2001).] |
