Tally-Ho the Lentech VB is in

Took exactly 5 hrs, if you count my piddle screwing around. No leaks, went in slicker than snot. Though I'm waiting for something to blow-up. Just my long history with auto trannies. I wont get on it until after the 125 mile break-in accoroding to the manual. Other than that its got good stiff shifts and hasnt blown-up. I must be getting good in my young age.

Finally a 1-2-3 shift. God that stock shift pattern assed me up.

Congrats on getting it in alright. I've got somewhere in the neighborhood of 5000 miles on mine so far. They're good pieces. If your AOD is in good shape, the valve body should only extend its life, especially the OD band.

When you get on it, it shifts like God kicked you in the rear bumper. You're gonna see some drops in et just from the increased shift speed, but mainly from the increase in consistancy. It shifts where you want it to, when you want it to.

Which VB did ya get?

Street terminater. I like it so far. Deff better the the stock one. Shifts are crisp, though at normal acceleration the 2-3 is harder than the 1-2 shift. Shifts into OD at around 2200-2300 rpm. Normal down shift from 4-3 is hard, but not overly harsh. Set the TV cable like it said in the lentech manual and backed off an 1/8 inch. Havent got on it yet.

All in all well worth it. Why ford would put a stock shift pattern like that is beyond me. 1,2-3, 4 assinine

Ford did the shift pattern that way because it wasnt designed for performance. It was designed for cruising around in a Lincoln, and it was also new back in the early 80's, when cars still had the "Drive/OD" searching back and forth shifting around 45 MPH.

The shift pattern allows you to hold third and lock-out OD.

Why they didnt just give the thing 4 forward shift detents in the valve body instead of three is a good question?

They probably used left over parts from the C5.

Did you get a new Torque Converter as well? I'm planning on getting the Street Terminator VB + 9.5" converter package - just wondering if anyone else has done the same. Or should I buy the converter seperately from a different company?

I went to the lentech page and they have some new products out.... i'm curious if you bought a street terminator overhaul kit and one of their converter/valve body packages wouldn't that be pretty much the same as one of their trannys?
