Massive Oil Leak!
Here we go again!
I've been burning/leaking oil for a month now, but all of a sudden (it seems) the problem has become tenfold. I changed the oil last Thursday, then drove from VA to MD and back, approximately 500 or so miles. I put in...FOUR quarts of oil. WTF?!?!? Since I've had the Cartech, I didn't have the PCV screen in the back of the intake, and its been leaking slightly from there, but when the car was on the rack, the underside from the oilpan to the tranny is SOAKED with oil...as in dripping! I redid the rear main seal when the clutch was installed last summer. Could it have gone again? Also, how can I determine if its the oilpan gasket or rear main seal(ugh or both)? Also, I noticed pooled oil on the lower intake close to the front. Could this be blowoff from the back of the Cartech? Or a valve cover leak? The first thing you need to do is,take and pressure wash your engine bay to clean all the leaking oil away. Also have the underneath of your car cleaned as well, such as driving through a car wash.they usually spray the underneath of vehicles as they drive through. Get everything cleaned off, then start the car up in park. Then crawl underneath your car and start observing where the oil leak is indeed coming from. My guess is the rear seal, but it's hard to tell for sure until everything is clean to start out with http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif ------------------ http://home.dencity.com/Mustanguy/avatar.gif Paxton Blown 87GT ICQ#112698436 |
i had oil running everywhere (1 qt per week) and it turned out to be the valve cover gaskets....replaced those and its all but disappeared (still have a smallllll one on the front main seal - check that too)

Have you checked the oil level sensor on the driver side of the pan? Mine was leaking pretty bad until I fixed it. Also, check the dipstick and valve covers.
And get the PCV leak fixed. ------------------ Too much to list. Best ET on the car so far with stock 2.73 gears - 13.73@102mph Indiana Stangers Association Buy your parts here ICQ# 42269241 |
