blower with nitrous?¿?

There are certain situations where you can run both together, but this is on a case by case basis and your car has to be set up for it. For example some people with blowers will run a 25 or 50 shot of nitrous to give them the same affect as an intercooler or aftercooler. Some of the 11 second lightnings also run nos with their blowers.

so mixing the two together could blow a engine if not done proper?

RdRunnr 07-23-2002 03:54 PM

Yes. Would is a better word then could. Think about what causes problems....improper a/f ratios and too much power. By mixing the two improperly you would be killing the a/f ratio (think about how much air you would be ramming into the motor) and in most cases probably creating more power then things can handle. It would probably look like the 4th of July...lol.

Yes you can run nitrous with a blower..i'm assuming your talking about the roots style blower. Guy at our track has a 71 Chevelle..468ci With a Dyers 671 Blower..runs a NOS cheater system..with a 250shot. This car is STREET driven. Very easy to do if you know how to tune it properly.

that would be intresting to say the least, lol. yeah it all makes sense. thanks for the info.

Hmmm, I've actually considered question myself. So running an intercooled Procharger D-1SC at about 10-15 lbs of boost with a 75 shot of nitrous for that "extra kick" wouldn't be a good idea, huh? :D

digital3.3 07-23-2002 06:02 PM

from what i know that a turbo is that hard to do with nitrous.....easier than with a blower...but hey i could be wrong

Eric4Nitrous 07-23-2002 06:10 PM

Chevelle runs mid to high 5's in the 1/8th on slicks with the juice flowing.

Boostin & Juicing

Ive seen several people doing the blower and N2o combo with good results.Ive been looking at doing it myself for the cooler effect. The thing is to drop back on the boost a little and you end up making more power and not tearing up the engine. I know that sounds like it does'nt make sense but it works. The N2o just about doubles its power when added under boost so by running too much boost you are pushing the motor harder and creating heat, which undermines (a little bit) the N2o.
I know most people with blowers always end up with a blower with the highest possible psi they can get out of a blower, so it probably is'nt running as efficiently. So by dropping back on psi and adding a 50 shot will make more power. But this all depends on you having the right setup. You need the right size injectors, fuel system, ignition, computer, etc. If not, you will blow something. Mostly your wallet. :D
Later....

Well put.

Nitrous and boost get along together wonderfully! It all depends on the driver and the builder. That's it.

As i have mentioned before, the only time I ever pissed in my pants in a car was in a nitrous injected, 6-71 blown, 427 Vega. With me in the passenger seat, it pulled a 9 second 1/4.

Take care,
~Chris

damn 9 seconds would be crazy if you not used to it, to say the least. :D

Eric4Nitrous 07-24-2002 04:25 PM

wish mine went 9's..that would at least give me time to scream "Oh my god" lol

Put me in the passenger seat. That'll slow it down a little (6', 220#).

:)

Take care,
~Chris
