throttle lag?
I've got a problem with lag here. i have a stock 2.3L.... when i start it in the morning (when its cold) it runs and idles smothly, no lag. once i run it for about 15-30 minutes it starts idling alittle funky (drops to like 400 rpm then revs to about 2,000 and stays for a few seconds then starts all over again)... and when that starts doing that, when i'm at a dead stop and i go to take off, if the throttle isn't to the floor it lags badly. then off and on for the rest of the day it will lag and idle funky, then it'll be ok for a few minutes then lag again..... any ideas?

If you car is mass air, I would check the mass air sensor. Also, you might want to check your tps (throttle postition sensor) and fuel injectors to make sure they are clean.

It could be the MAP sensor.
Try running codes. Take care, ~Chris |

i've changed the MAP sensor too... still have the problem. i'll try running the codes. |

You need to replace your TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). Buy a new one, and install it carefully. Before you snug down the screws that hold it in place, attach a DMM pos. lead to a small safety pin piercing the Green wire, and the neg lead to ground. Turn the DMM on to DC volts on the 20 volt scale. Turn the key to ON, but do not try to start. Read the DMM. It should read no lower than .9 vdc, and no more than 1.1 vdc. If it is within this range, tighten down the screws that mount the TPS to the TB. When tight, check voltage again, and make sure it's within that range. Next, slowly open the throttle by hand to WOT. The gauge should increase smoothly as you do this. Check the voltage at WOT. It must be higher than 4.5 vdc. If it is, verify once again that the screws are tight. Remove the DMM and leads & safety pin. Disconnect the neg. cable from the battery, and then turn on the headlight switch for 5 minutes, shut the switch off, and reconnect the neg battery cable.
The EGRC & EGRV solenoids are mounted on the back side of the passenger side strut tower, and will have two identical looking two wire electrical connectors plugged into the top of them. Check the connections, and make sure they are clean and tight. If you see any corrosion or damaged wires, fix them. Take care, ~Chris |

ok thanks for the help.... i guess my EGR isn't working becuz both EGRC & EGRV solenoids are missing. i found two identical plugs behind the passenger strut. but nothing to hook them to. ill pick those up at a junkyard for a few bucks along with a TPS useless a new one is cheap. |
