Anyone running thrush exhaust?

I was thinking about putting a set of Thrush turbo's on my GT. I was wondering if anyone is running these (no not the glass packs) and what difference do they make in terms of sound. My old man had some on his '65 but I don't know if these are the same mufflers. The car is long gone, and so is he, so I turn to y'all for help.

I think someone here stole the Thrush mascot for his or her personal website. You know who you are.;)

not since the mid - 70's god im old, i thought they went out of business, lol  :D :D

I have a set of THRUSH MUFFLERS on my pickup,I think they are called RAPTORS now. The motor is the original one I took out my 95 gts. I personally think they are too restrictive, I've got the stock mustang headers and true 2.5 in duals. They don't produce much sound at idle and at crusing speeds they don't have much sound at all.

I have some Thrush glasspacks on my car, and contrary to everyone's belief, they don't make noises like Rice Krispy cereal (snap crackle pop) and they are not too loud or obnoxious, by any means.

I've heard a set of 2 chamber Flowmasters on a setup fairly similar to mine and it was louder at idle and at WOT than my car is.

SO STOP MAKING FUN OF GLASSPACKS!!! THEY ONLY SOUND CRAPPY ON HILLBILLY PICKUPS AND ANY CAR WITH LESS THAN 8 CYLINDERS!!!!!

hehehe....:D

Marty, I thought so too. I typed in thrush on yahoo, and Dynomax makes a Thrush line, complete with Woodpecker logo. I haven't been able to find anyone who actually is running them right now.

Jason, I don't know if those are what I was looking at or not. Can you find some info on them out there on the net and send it over? Thanks.

Pep Skanks sells them...in fact we kept them in stock.

Chris, I knew you had the logo, do you still run the parts?

Belle, I see you aren't running them on your car. Is that form deep seated distain of the PB or because they are crap now?

Mustangbelle306 07-31-2002 11:17 AM

Oh I haven't even heard them before, I've had the same stupid Blowmasters for 3 years almost :( I just remember we carried them...but YAH!!! I would rather go open header than buy them from PEP SKEEZAS!!!

EDIT: I have a job interview today :) So Manny, Moe, and JACK-AZZZZZ can kiss mine :D

Not recently, but they've always been good. I used to love them.

Take care,

Boy that's an old name. I had a Thrush baseball shirt when I was a kid, I wore that sucker out:). I looked into buying some for my mustang years ago but bought Dynomax instead, the new mufflers were just more advanced(add more hp). I'm glad to see Dynomax bought them out and the name will carry on(me looks for a new baseball shirt:D).

I used to get them confused. Mr. Horsepower has a cigar in his mouth, and is noise down. The thrush bird is kicked back like the pic that Chris put up, and cancer stickless.

Speaking of which, ******-you have an opinion on the mufflers?

The Deuce 07-31-2002 10:25 PM

I got censored!

Pckr-that question was for you, but since I put the 'e's in what I typed at the beginning it got flagged as dirty. I'm simply baffled. I'm looking to liven up the exhaust note a little, without being like everyone else. I can't seem to find if the Turbo's will flow better or worse than stock and what it will do to the sound.

Why isn't there a comparison chart out there somewhere?
