MSD ignitions
I was thinking about putting a 6-series MSD ignition in my 98' 5 speed...Any pros/cons...anybody out there w/ this system installed--what did you think?
|
From what I have heard and read, you won't see any difference on your car (other than lighter wallet), unless you have heavier mods. The factory packs and ignition work fine... I haven't looked at your car specs though, so if you are already topped out, then go for it.

98' 5-speed, k & n cool air kit, 3.73 gears, flows

I would say go with MAF/TB, TA, H/X pipe before you spend money on MSD box. You will see better results from those, than you will from the box... Any one else have a better opinion??? I've only had my stang for a little over a year...

MAF/TB, TA...what's that stuff (sorry, i'm a newbie to the mustangs abbr.)
|
MAF = Mass Air Flow Meter
TB = Throttle Body TA = Timing Advance other commonly used short hand CAI = Cold Air Intake CEL = Check Engine Light MIL = Malfunction Indicator Light (aka CEL) I can't think of any others right now |
if you want to upgrade your igniton system and your almost stock
do this it`s what i did buy hight performance coil packs from accell with extremely low resistant wires mine are Holley lasershot 50ohm per foot and better spark plugs although some hate platinum plugs ahmm{hammer} i stick true to plain old platinum plugs i noticed a big difference after doing these mods i have a couple more mods to my engine than you but these should help .your total out of pocket exspence coil packs 2 at $65.00 a piece =$175.00 holley laser shot wires 8 =$98.50 bosch platinum plugs 8=$48.26 total for all $321.76 i have better fuel economy and better throttle responce and a bit more power and i`m ready for a dis system when i get money for it doing it first before the mods listed above would be a waste of money stock wires and coil packs suck:D |
