What is the better part to buy first? I am sending my tranny to get rebuilt tomorrow.

I voted shifter, because you'll notice it more than a driveshaft. A driveshaft isn't a bad idea, but you'll feel the shifter every time you shift and the stops on an aftermarket shifter will keep you from over shifting and bending the shift forks.

yeah i'd go with the shifter also. My dad and brother both got pro-5.0 shifts and are happy with them. I'm thinking about ordering one for mine.

Definitly go with the shifter. It will help you shift better, and help you avoid missing gears. In addition, (as mentioned before) it will help you from bending the shift forks.
