3.73 gear?????
I was up at the track this weekend and was hooking pretty good with those Falken tires but was wondering how much would a gear really help??? when i get the gear I would get nitto drag tires also... not to mention is there anythig else I would have to do to make my rear end stronger???? Please help... Another thing is what could be the difference in my E/T??? thanks for the help...

Stick or Auto??? Yes it will help your ET!!

What mph did you run?? 3.73 gears can help but if you don't have traction. drag radials are a good idea along with a gear change

Stick or Auto?
What's in it now? Why do you have a 160 t-stat in? Is this a track only car? Take care, ~Chris |
3.73 Gears really helped my car, BIG TIME.
3.73's Rock! |
it depends on what your future plans are i think, i just had 3.55's installed..and to help out i also got a HD trick flow differential cover with studs ...but i went with the 3.55's seeing as over the winter i plan on a 342 stroker motor...it will have plenty of tourqe there for i wont need anything more then 3.55's...if your car is a auto you can go higher

my car is stick and i was running 93.89mph in the 1/4... this is a everyday driver... the 160 thermo is in there because i heard it helps so what the heck it is 8 bucks.... thanks for the advice keep it up...

3.73's will be perfect for you. You will be extremely happy.
You heard wrong as far as your t-stat goes. If it was a race only car, a 160 is fine, but for a daily driver, you should never run lower than a 180, and even then, you really should run a 192. You are literally cutting your engines lifespan in half. Take care, ~Chris |
ET depends on how bad your 60's were with street tires. If you were up around 2.2's or 2.3's or worse, the gears and drag radials would help a lot and might get you breaking 2.0. The better 60's you get will help tremendously getting the car up to speed quicker. That would help you get to around 14 flat or better and get you into the mid/high 90's mph.

Your 160 stat makes your car run rich, On top of that you bumped up your fuel pressure. If you set the fuel pressure back to stock and installed a 180 stat you would run at least a 1/10th better.
FYI: If traction isnt an issue yet it will be after the gears. I ran 2 tenths slower when I went from 2.73's to 3.73's I couldnt hook up to save my life. Nittos are OK but not much better than a street tire. You have to heat the hell out of them and slip the clutch out the hole. Best 60ft I ever got with the nittos was a 2.0........On street tires I was getting 2.20's........On slicks I get 1.7's. Good luck, |
