BFG drag radial with puncture, what to do
All right. Just bought new drag radials, less than 500 miles on them and I found somthing on the road. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/eek.gif Luckily it was close to home. Unluckily it put a nice hole in my new tire. $#^%*@! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/mad.gif
Now, does anyone have a suggestion? I can plug it, but will that hold up? I do plan on running them at the strip. I've plugged tires before and they seem to hold up well, but I've never tried a plugged tire for racing. Or should I have it tubed? If I do, then should both tires be tubed? Would there be any noticable performance difference to having one with a tube and one without? Thanks ------------------ '92 GT conv. TFS heads, GT40, Powerdyne 9#, AOD, 3.73... |
as long as it is in the tread area...(not the sidewall)
Have it patched from the inside. That is the best way to do it. ------------------ 4.10's,long tubes & 75 shot...Goes 12.50's Check it out at http://www.burnouts.webprovider.com 11's coming soon!!!! Heads, intake and cam are all here |
I have had a nail go in my DR's and I put a plug in it. And it hold up great. I drive on the street all the time and cut low 1.7's on them and the plug has held for about 4 months so far so good.

Call BFG and see what they say.

Just like NOS_Notch said, patch it from the inside. That's the best way to fix a puncture. Plugs do work, but not all the time.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I ended up having it plugged from the inside with a rubber mushroom kinda shaped plug. I'll let you know if I have any trouble with it. ------------------ '92 GT conv. TFS heads, GT40, Powerdyne 9#, AOD, 3.73... |
