Which Caster Camber plates should I buy?
I have a 2001 Mustang GT. I have the Saleen Racecraft coils on it, but I'm about to have a shop take a coil or two off the springs. " This post isn't about weather or not I should cut my springs, cut I know i shouldn't and I know you all are all againts that " I just need to know what and who makes the best caster cambers, where I can get them and how much they cost. Also, how do the casters install? Is it you just take the stock off and put these on? Or do you have to do anything along the lines of cutting or anything of the such. Please someone/everyone let me know. Thanks!

MAXIMUM MOTORSPORTS.....hands down!:D

How much are they and where is the best place to get them? Thanks

I have the Maximum Motorsports C/C plates myself. They use a 4 bolt design that is much stronger than the stock 3 bolt (you have to drill a hole in your towers to install), which is what most manufacturers offer. Also, if you ever plan on getting coil-over springs the extra bolt is a must since you are supporting the front of the car with the plates. You can read about them and purchase them from:

As far as the install goes, you just unbolt the strut at the top and let it drop down, then unbolt the stock one and put the new one on. As I said before, you also have to drill a hole on each side of the tower to install the Maximum Motorsports ones if you go with those. You will also need to get a front end alignment done after installing them.

Hey Blue00GT I really Appreciate all the help. But I'm a total amature when it comes to this. So I'll be installing these word by word from what your saying, everything you have told me so far, is this all that I need to know? Or is there anything else I need to know how to do? Thanks!

steedamustang01 - As far as I recall that was all that was required for the install. The MM ones came with good instructions. If you want to PM me a fax number I can probably dig them up and send them to you from my office. You just want to be careful when drilling the 4th hole and make sure it is in the right place. Also, the plates on the MM ones can be flipped over to offer two different ranges of negative camber adjustment, so you just need to make sure you have them on the right way; the instructions explain this as well.

Have a good alignment shop or mechanic install them in your case, I think that would be best for you. The Maximum Motorsports C/C plates are awesome, get em!;)

What exactly do caster camber plates do?

Basic Alignment Theory
http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/suspension/align.html Alignment Terms: http://www.steeda.com/PR/Mustang/defines/defines.htm Steeda's Recommended Caster/Camber Settings: http://www.steeda.com/PR/Mustang/Ali...mentbasics.htm |
So it's like suspension, but not? I understand the bit about caster and toe (camber's kinda sketchy), but do they really help performance enough to spend $300 on them? My car doesn't shake or wobble at high speeds, so would I even need to worry about these, or are they just something for the person who has every known "bolt on?"

You only need after market caster cambers if you lower your mustang. Once you lower the car the alinement gets out of wack. And there's not enough adjustment in the stock caster cambers to give it a perfect alinement. So there for if you buy aftermarket caster cambers you can then have your car alined perfectly so and there for your tires will wear okay.

They are even beneficial on a stock car because they allow you to put in a lot more positive caster than stock, which stangs need to handle. Positive caster makes for more negative camber in turns so that you don't have to have so much negative camber for good handling and get funny tire wear. I think positive caster also improves bump steer and Ackerman angle, but can't remember for sure.
