Hammer,
That car looks sweet and sounds even better. I have two questions, 1. How'd you swing that picture with the p51-D(looks like)? 2. Which Dynomax mufflers are you running? Sounds like the Ultraflows. Let me know, if you're willing to give up a secret or two. :D |
Well, If you dig deep enough around the net, you'll find out that I'm an ex-Navy avionics tech and an amateur pilot.
I've got some buddys that have retired from various branches of service, (basically all of them except the Army) and are now flying aircraft that are a little less exciting for American Airlines and Delta. I was doing a walk-around on a Cessna 172 before a flight and I hear this HUGE powerful engine coming down the taxiway. I look up and see this beautiful P-51 come up and shut down right next to me. Being a nice guy, I put some chocks under its main gear as the pilot gets out. We strike up a conversation and come to find out that he is part of the Air Museum down at the end of the airport. He's just getting some AVgas. I look at this incredible piece of machinery and start to think: hmmmm, Mustang..... One thing led to another and before I knew it, our car club was giving a donation to the museum and we were getting P-51 pics! As far as the mufflers are concerned.... there's a little secret... I was out of town for a while but I wanted to have a cat-back system put on. So I had my wife take it down to my friends at Dallas Mustang to put on a Dynomax catback on while I was away. Well, I got back, it sounded great and I drove it around for almost 2 years when we were putting in my Tremec and I noticed nothing on the muffler said Dynomax.... So I called Mike at DM and he tells me that the order was put in for a MAC cat-back, not Dynomax. Well, I'm NEVER going to say my wife messed up but I always wondered how I got such a good price on the cat-back!! ;) Well, the MAC system sounds just the way I like it and has held up good, so I kept it. I've just never gotten around to changing the mod entry.... Thanks for reminding me! hehe |
Thanks for the heads up. Your secret is safe with me, and now I'm even more confused about my muffler choice.

thats a nice car you got there.

Car looks good as usuall Adam!
your wife made a mistake! :p ;) Personal voucher for Hammers Car: It sounds like an F-14 with that blower on it! Definately one of the coolest cars I've heard. |
Hi,
Sweet man, looks, sounds and prolly runs nice. I just dunno about that Goodyear windsheild decal. Just me... Bye! |
That really does look sharp! I think it may also be the first time I have seen headlight covers that actually made the car look better, rather than making it look like a Pep Boys special. I think you did an excellent job of finding that very fine line between underdoing it and overdoing it. Very well done!
:) Take care, ~Chris |

That was pretty much my goal. Make it stand out, but not ricey. Also make it look stock enough to make it a bit of a sleeper. Quote:
I have been debating that decal ever since I put it on last year. Sometimes I think its pretty cool, since you don't see any decals quite like that one. (I got it from a friend that owns 2 Goodyear stations, and he paid to have a few made for an employee's Dakota show truck and my Stang....) Then some days I look at it and think that it's a bit ricey.... For now, I think its OK, but the decal's days may be numbered... ;) |
As long as you are actually running Goodyears I think it looks fine. Besides, not like a lot of people see that end of your car. :D
