Tune ups, plugs, rotor, cap suggestions please

I am going on a long trip on my stang. what are the best plugs that I can use. I dont know what all of you mean when you say #25 or #26??? what is that??? Should I go with regular cap and rotor? Should I put regular tranny fluid on the tranny or synthtic<spelling> Will it leak if I put synthtic? HEHE these are maybe dumb questions but I love my stand and i Prefer to know from all you experts out there.
Thanks

Suggest:

- Redline MTL in the tranny.

- Castrol Syntec 10-30 or 10-40 in the crankcase. Any other brand of synthetic will work just fine too.

- Stock Motorcraft plugs, cap, and rotor. Unless there's a strong reason to change heat ranges on the plugs, I'd go with the stock heat range. I don't know the part nos. but the dealer can help. Yeah Motorcraft is more money but I believe the Ford quality is worth it.

Have a nice trip!

my suggestion:

go with the 'brass cap and rotor, accell makes them, i beleive they last longer, but not sure, i never run anything else.

And im doing fine with motorcraft cheap plugs gapped 0.54, and run mobile-1 t-5, and durablend 20-w50 racing oil in crnkcase (pretty cheap).

also might not hurt to have a spare TFI module handy.

I don't know if it makes any difference in effiency but I use the accel cap and rotor. If your going to replace the wires get some better ones. I had accel 8.8, they were good but had to be careful they didn't burn on the headers. I also had an accel coil, msd, splitfires(maybe accel u-groove) and K@N and got over 27(almost 28)mpg when stock. Hard to believe, but true.

Autozone sells a cap and rotor that are brass and they do fine for me. Just tell them you want a brass cap and rotor and they will know what you mean.

I use Autolight #25's in my Stang. Autozone will know what you mean here too when you tell them to give you Autolight #25's.

If you still have the original set of wire replace them as well. Go with a good brand of wires like Taylor or Ford Racing 8mm or 9mm wires.

As for oil I use Mobile1 tri synthetic and a K&N oil filter. This makes for some very expensive oil changes, but my car loves me for it. I just know it does http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif

Well does'nt synthetic make my car leak if I have 137,000 miles on it?

McCarville Ford sells a really nice tune up package that comes with everything you will need. Cap, rotor, wires, PCV, Ford 9MM wires (your choice of color) and the fuel filter for about $90. Their customer service is really great. They advertise in all the Stang pubs.

89fhplx, i know my car has a minimal leak, i dont know if synthetic is the blame, but since i moved to "durablend synthetic blend" thicker 20-w50 oil, i havent noticed any major oil consumption.

Good luck http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif

I just switched to synthetic two oil changes ago and my car had just turned over 119,000 miles. No leaks yet. Change your pcv valve and clean out the screen under it as well to help eliminate pressure build up which causes oil leaks.
