What am I looking at?

at the end of the summer, (*=already done)I'm looking at the following mods. What do y'all think for a decent time?

Stock 302
Stock heads
Explorer upper & lower intake
Bigger throttle body
Pullies*
Speed density and staying that way with Moroso lungs*
Headers, X pipe, and Flows*

I'm also going to put in new valve springs and roller rockers.
Engine's got 140,000 on it, should I get one of those PAW rebuild kits? And if so, which one- they have like 3 levels...

I've also got 2.73's right now, and looking to go with 3.73's. What's the time difference going from one to the other? Anyone that's had both with above mods? Thoughts?

Thanx!

Mods

Low 14's, possibly high 13's if the wind is right.

You need the 3.73 rear gears. They can be worth three tenths, sometimes more, but you have to re-learn how to launch the car without giving up traction and losing the torque multipication advantage the gears offer. I would do the gear upgrade before messing with intakes, but to answer the question:

Underdrive pulleys will help, (maybe a tenth or two) the intakes won't hurt but the bigger TB won't do much, if anything.

If you don't burn oil or have any noticable problems then you can put off a rebuild awhile longer as intake and exhaust mods won't really strain the engine and new valve springs will help.

Once you're ready for aftermarket heads and possibly a cam, then think about a rebuild kit.

13's with that setup may be pushing it a bit,no offense intended, My setup was basically what he is going to and I ran high to mid 14's until I converted to Carb.now it runs low 13's.I would expect MAYBE a 14.80 or so time with that setup, again depending on the wind.My.02
