TFI Module
How can I test the TFI module? I think this might have something to do with the car acting bad. Thanks

You need a module tester. You can buy one at pep Boys for around $25, but that's half way to buying a new one, so it's your call.

When you install a new one, does it involve splicing wires? I have a friend who just put a japanese spec motor in his crx, and had to re-wire the whole car. It was running horrible and extremely rich. He took it to a local rice shop, and they told him that you have to solder the wires, you cannot use butt-connectors. Would the same hold true with the engine electircal in the stang, or is this a japanese problem?

Installing a new TFI invovles an electrical connector, no wires to cut. The thing with your friends car would happen with almost all car. The buttconnectors arent as good of a connection as soldering. I saw a car that had the TPS sensor wired this way and the computer threw a code for weak TPS voltage. Moral of the story is dont use buttconnectors on important stuff like engine electrical, solder the connections and use a shrink wrap or at the least electrical tape.

Thanks for the replies. I'll just buy a new TFI module and see if that helps, I don't think that $45 is going to kill me.
