Help, I keep seizing power steering pumps!
I have the Novi 1000 kit which uses the factory serpentine system to drive the blower. I have not had any problems until this weekend, when I went through 2 pumps in 2 days. Both times it happened as soon as I got toward 6000 rpm. I go to shift, the car stalls, and there is fluid all over my engine, and the pump is locked up.
The only things I can think of are perhaps I am tightening the belt too much, or the larger 6.5" crank pulley is spinning the pump too fast. I would just go to manual steering, but I have the Motorsport A/C eliminator kit which puts the power steering pump where the A/C compressor was, and I would need some sort of idler pulley in it's place. Any suggestions? Rob |
my only suggestion would be to trade someone your FMS powersteering bracket for one of the one's that has the idler pulley on it. I think March makes one, and a couple other companies as well
or you could always go back to a smaller crank pulley for less boost:D NOT! |
Hey,
I have a NOVI 1000 also and alot of people are having that problem. The fix is either get a power steering pulley from a taurus or do the march delete thing. I like have power steering so I am going with the larger pulley for the PS pump. It measures about 7" in diameter which is good because you should not exceed 1:1 ratio with engine rpm and ps pump |

Sorry to here of your troubles dude. Hope you get the fix. |
