i've got poison....
...ivy that is!
the bastard has come back to haunt me...grr! this is what i get for helping my dad clear brush in the front yard (its 30 years of untouched wilderness) this past weekend...i got it really bad the last time i worked out there and helped clear out some of the "jungle" as well...last time i was covered....very very much so...it was nasty...this time its sparce...i was smart this time and didnt try to get a tan while working in it (wearing hardly any clothes didnt pay off, i tanned bumpy red...lol)...this time i had on jeans, a tshirt, socks, shoes and gloves! and ive still managed to get it on my stomach...lol...grr!...i hope more isnt going to keep showing up.... btw...poison ivy does NOT spread from scratching it...it makes it stay around longer and inflames it, giving you the option of leaving scars :)...people think that poison ivy will spread, but in fact by the time it actually shows on your skin, the sap is no where to be found on you....people think it spreads because it doesnt all show up at once, it depends on the thickness of skin and how thickly you were covered in an area... so right now im on benadryl *yawn*...lol...and ive sprayed me body with benadryl spray....this is the only way ive found to survive it and let it pass its course...but wow does benadryl knock you out...ive been fighting to stay awake for the past hour...lol... this turned out kinda long, but i felt like sharing :D:D:cool: |
YIKES!!!
GOD< that must suck! I am happy to say I have NEVER dealt w/ that....I have bad allergies and have dealt w/ Excema contributed to by my job for 12 years...turns out I was deathly allergic to the haircolor. So when I stopped doing color7 years ago, not only did my asthma get better, but so did my allergies and excema.
They should make Benadryl a sleep medication. The ONLY time I take that is when I have anaphylactic allergic reactions and my lips will swell up twice thier normal size in a manner of minutes. It knocks out the allergy, and myself in the process! I have NEVER taken anything that wipes me out more than that! Not even script painkillers! With all those clothes on, how the hell did u get it on your stomach????.....well, i'm glad its a mild case though. Hope your feeling better soon! Take care, TNT :) |
That's what you get for working in your dads yard wearing a tube top. Seriously though, your stomach??

LMAO

tube top? lmao...its a tshirt and im not a cross dresser thank you :):D...
i honestly have no idea how it got on my stomach...i was sweating pretty bad and it prolly got on my shirt, maybe soaked through? or maybe one of the vines touched me briefly while i was pulling it from the tree? who knows...its odd, but its true...and last time i had it under my wrists it was so bad, but i dont this time (knock on wood that it doesnt appear tomorrow), and that was the annoying spot....last time it was so bad that i had the poison ivy ontop of the poison ivy! it was nasty looking :\ ....i only seem to get this stuff when i clear out the scrubbrush areas....cuz id never gotten poison ivy before that time earlier this year...and now this again, i swear ill never do yard work for my dad again! lol... :D |

Dude, nobody looks at that stuff. There are maybe five people who spell my user name right, I get dUece instead of dEuce. Makes me think I spelled it wrong, but it don't really matter.
Just don't get anything pink to rub on yourself. There is just something that seems so wrong about that. |

Go get some stuff called "Ivarest". It's really good to stop the itching and dries it up. Just try not to scratch and get the places infected.
Oh, BTW to keep from getting in the first place... take dish soap and rub it on before you get near it, you won't get it. ( I know it sounds nuts... but it works).:p Good luck getting rid of it.:) C-ya, Melisa |
lol...good luck eh? well i did a little more looking again this time and found something called Zanfel. It seems to be the only thing out there that will get rid of it after youve got it and have broken out. I picked some up at Publx for $34 for this 1 ounce tube. They said at Publix that they sell a lot of it. I've put it on and already no itch (thats whe they say youve applied it properly) and that within the next day or two the rashes will be gone. I'ma lready seeing them because less harsh in the past 3-4 hours. So this stuff is worth the money :). Ivarest works like benadryl. It merely stops the itch. It's just a sooting cream, and I'd still have this crap for 14-20 days using that.
btw. I was wearing long pants and a shirt when I was workign outside. I came in, washed off and then jumped in the pool. That's why I didn't break out as bad as last time. But you dont even need the soap. You just need water, cold or hot. It takes 10minutes for the urushiol oil to soak into your skin and bond. Sometimes it takes the oil 2 hours to do the same thing. I was outside working for about 2-3 hours. So if I was in contact with it halfway through working out there, then I didn't wash off soon enough. That's the problem. So I'm glad I found this Zanfel! ...and I'm so happy that poison ivy isn't spreadable from me after it's bonded, cuz not being able to be close to the gf would suck. :) So if you ever get poison ivy, remeber Zanfel!! lol..sounds like an infomercial :p:) |
