guitar people

I have been on a Korn kick for a while now and have been learning allot of there songs. The part that is a PITA is they use Ibanez 7 strings to hit the extra low notes and chords.
What kind of tuning do you people use to convert it to a 6 string?
Also, on a 7 string guitar is the extra string another "E" string that is just tuned 2 1/2 steps lower then the low "E"?

The bottom B can be acheived that way. I'm only speculating, as all my guitars are 6 strings. That being said, you can purchase custom sting gauges at any good music store. If you get one thicker than your bass E, it would be easier to get the correct tension and be at that note.

To convert 7-6, I would play the notes 5 frets lower on the E, or play all 6 dropped, and play the high e up 5. Not too into Korn, so I'm not all that much help.

The 7-strings are pretty much setup with one thicker string on the end. the higher 6 strings are tuned the same, the fat string is B. Korn keeps the same order, only drops everything down one note to an A at the fat string. I had an Ibanez RG-7620 for a few years, they're pretty bada**, although playing a full chord is slightly different to play than a regular 6 string. You could tune your 6 string starting with the heavy string to (I think) ADGCFAD
I know Wes Borland setup his 7-string so the bottom strings were the same order as a 6-string, only the high 7th was the same note and octave as the 6th right next to it. Anyway, I feel like I've written too much, hopefully I didn't confuse you.

I'm lost. I learned how to play by my self and never learned anything about notes or anything. Can you try to explain that without the technical terms?
thanks for the replys though,
Wade

Can you read tab? It would be a little too much work to tab out what I was talking about here, but I can e-mail you an attachement in .txt format when I get home. Let me know.

I can read tab, but I just don't understand how they tune it. E,G,A is all greek to me.
Thanks

If you are wanting to play a seven string you might want to check out www.musicyo.com . They did have Kramer 7 strings for about 300 bucks.
