T-45 woes

I think I knocked something loose in my Shifter linkage. I was backing the car up tonight and the tranny got stuck in Reverse. I got it into neutral but there was a lot of resistance in the stick.

I wasn't in a position to take it apart, or leave it there, so I played a little rough and shook it loose. Unfortunatly, now accelerating there is a rattling coming from what I think is right on top of the transmission.

Don't have any idea what it could be, other than a clip or something simple. I hope. The last thing I need is to have broken something major not doing anything fun. Any thoughts before I open it up? I'm not real fond of digging into it, as I don't have even a bad manual here yet.

Is my car freak of nature, or has anyone else encountered a similar problem?

There is a lever that gets the tranny into reverse and 5th. I think mine is bent, because it never did like to go into reverse, and it got stuck again this morning on a test drive, now it sounds worse. I'm hoping nothing sheared off and got stuck, its getting towed into the shop to take a look.

Hopefully when you had trouble putting it into reverse.. you'd put it into 1st and then reverse.. or if that didn't work.. put it in 1st drive forward a tiny bit then put it in reverse..

rather than just jamming it into reverse.. it's a security feature of the manual Transmissions.. so that you don't just accidetnly be cruising at 60mph and drop it into reverse:eek:

No I wouldn't. I would have to do everything to get the darn thing to back up sometimes. Neutral, first, second fifth, neutral second, reverse, reverse. You name it I would do it sometimes.

I honestly think something was bent before I got it. Getting it torn down right now. Hopefully the aux shaft is all that's wrong, but I won't know for at least a day.
