Bad! real bad CLUTCH PROBLEM HELP!!

Im on my last nerve, of all times, it happens when im trying to take my girl to a movie, my clutch colapses to the floor, it is a hd motorsport, and its a yr old, also i have a d&d cable and frwall adjuster, it ran fine at the track friday, but after gassing up at a store today it popped off to the floor when i tried to start it,

I found that it just came loose from the quadrant, i stuck it back on, and then it had a lot of slack in it, and i had to force it into gear, yes i have it adjusted as far as i can, also i dont hear the throwout bearing squeal anymore, is my clutch trashed?

It wont hang on to the cable? i dont think it can be adjusted anymore? thnx for any help, im about to push this car off a cliff:mad:

come on guys:) , i have to get to work tommorrow, you think there is any hope? what about throwing on my stock cable?

I looked up in the dust cover area and im not sure what to look for? the PP looks pushed further towards the engine, and i smelled clutch after i drove it?

Well some people are sayin pressure plate, what do you guys think i should do, just replace that, if everything else looks good? this is cutting into mod money.

...cutting into mod money :) LOL!

You should make getting a new disc, p/p, and t.o. bearing a priority, along with a resurfacing on your flywheel, as it sounds to me like your clutch is just about done for... wouldn't be sure unless I looked at it though. You could just be having clutch cable/quadrant problems... if you're p/p is pushed in farther than normal, then it has collapsed and you need something a little more HD ...like a SPEC unit or a Centerforce D/F setup. That will get you ready for some hp mods :D

What kind of quadrant and cable you run? A firewall adjuster is a very nice accessory to have if you don't already ;)

Could possibly be a stretched clutch cable. Try replacing that first before you take the tranny out.

Thnx, but some of ya'll aint reading my post closely, i said my hd motorsport 10.5 is a yr old, including T.o and pp, also i mentioned i have the D&D firewall adjuster and cable, the cable looks fine and is about 3 months old, i do have about 20 e.t.street passes on this clutch, well thnx again, but a centerforce gold II is going in the mail order, i will never buy another ford clutch, it has never felt right from the get go, since day one.

...no experience with the gold II setup, but if you're making passes at the track you may want to consider a more HD unit, like the D/F setup. I had well over 50 passes on that unit, with slicks, and no problems... until it finally genaded a few years later. You don't have your cable adjusted up too far do you? ....and the quadrand looks ok?

I just had a similar problem. My clutch cable was frayed at the bellhousing. When I replaced the cable it worked great again. After I replaced the cable, I cut the old one open with a die grinder to find a helluva mess just inside the cable housing at the bell housing.

They have a GP going on over at www.corral.net for the SPEC clutches.
You may want to check it out.

I catch your drift, but those are designed for 500 hp 7k rpm cars:D

Do you mean under the car? or firewall adjustment? anything else would slack it up worse, but i'll let you know what i find, to tired to screw with it today. one guy says the hard pedal could have been caused bye a worn bearing retainer,(clutch hard on calf muscle) i guess i will go ahead and install one while it's apart,(steel bearing) something in there used to squeal, i always thought it was the T.O bearing?
thnx

Did you have the clutch cable adjusted up to where t/o bearing was riding the pressure-plate is what I meant... that's not good. It sounded that way when you stated it was adjusted as far as it'll go, but it would fall off the quadrant, right? Did you inspect the quadrant itself, it's fine?

I'd get in on the GP at the Corral if I were you, I've never tried 'em but everyone rants about how good they are...

and anyone who's ever run the stock bearing retainer on the T5 has had problems with 'em sooner or later. The steel retainer and a new t/o bearing are a good idea if you're going to have it apart.

Do let us know what you come-up with...

Thnx again, no it wasnt riding the throwout, it sometimes squealed when i pushed in the clutch, it didnt do it all the time.

as far as my quadrant, what could be wrong with it if it is a piece of aluminum (d&d piece)? i did check the pins that hold it on, they are intact. over the weekend it is coming apart.:( i am also pulling the cable to fully inspect it, i remember a post where a guy had his D&D cable fail at low mileage.
