wiring....

I am wiring in my autometer gauges and cant seem to find a ignition wire (a wire that is hot when the ign. is on and cold when off) does anyone know which wire under the dash is hot when on? I have a great assortment of colors under this bad boy.

i usually use a wire in the radio harness i can't recall the color but if you have a voltmeter you can easily find it.

do you suppose it is ok to tap this wire twice for 2 gagues or should i use different ones?

You can find the wires you are looking for with a test light from the local Wal-Mart or parts house. I would seperate the two powers for the guages, you don't want to be dragging down the power too much from the one wire, it could cause a blown in line fuse, which you may never find, dullness in the lighting of the guages and could affect the accuracy of the guage reading. i seperated all of mine and have had no problems. Good Luck!!

you can tap it twice with no ill effects i have 3 gauges and my tach running off of it and everything works great and has for 6 years.
