boost gauge
what is the purpose of the boost gauge that some folks put in there car? What does it measure? Is there any advantage to having one installed in a 91 5.0 with an aod?
thanks |
a boost gauge is used to measure the amount of boost a supercharger or turbo makes if you get a combo boost/ vacuum gauge it shows engine vacuum when driving and boost as the supercharger/turbo builds it but unless you have a supercharger or turbo there is no need for a boost gauge and if your interested in vacuum just get a vacuum gauge.

basically, ditto.
Your engine creates vacuum when it's running, and that vacuum is an excellent diagnostic tool, which justifies getting a vacuum gauge. When you install a forced induction system (blower or turbo), the vacuum is overcome by the boost from the blower/turbo, and now you need a boost gauge. Without a blower or a turbo, a boost gauge is nothing more than a 11k tach is to a stock Civic. Take care, ~Chris |
