351w heads question
Which stock 351W heads are the best, what casting # do I need to look for?
|
I believe it the 70 or 69 casting, ( I have 70's on my comet) The time you find/buy a set, get them rebuilt, put in larger valves, hope there not cracked(not a problem that I know of) you could get a set world heads or something like that. A little more money but worth it.

'69 351W heads are the best of the stocks, but IMO they still suck. They have 1.84/1.54 valves, TINY! If you want stock, go with the '69s, they'll have a casting number of C9XX----........
If you have the money, go with a set of aftermarkets with bigger valves. TFTW heads have 2.02/1.60 valves, are about $1100, and you don't have to flycut the stock pistons. Performer RPMs have 2.02/1.60s and are about the same price, but you do have to flycut the pistons. Performer heads have 1.90/1.60 (I think???) but they work with the stock pistons. There are many, many options out there for aftermarket heads. The 3 I listed are all aluminum, but there are plenty of iron ones, too. |
Yea, you guys are right. I will probably go with one of the roush heads. Just exploring all possibilities. Its just overall, stock ford heads just suck when compared to stock GM( maybe) and Mopar for sure. Sorry just call it like I see it. The roush heads have got my intrest though.
