Nope, its not that I've stopped hating rice, its just that I'm desperately trying to sell my stang and I won't be coming around here too much anymore. My car is great and everying (kinda) but I found somethning I'd rather have. Yes it is an import, but its not a car. Its a suzuki samurai.

Now I've got a 1990 Mustang LX for sale. its got power windows power locks. air (that doesn't work), cruise. 2.3L with a 5spd and 219xxx kms. Everythings basically stock. Im in Saskatoon Saskatchewan, Canada.

I've got plans to do a spring over lift and put it on 32 inch tires and offroad it. The mustang was a gift from my brother when he bought a 2003 Tiburon. BTW That Tib moves, but I bet a 5.0 or 4.6 would beat it. It was still a very fun car to drive

Kevn. i know what you mean. i have a lifted Toyota. Suzuki are pretty cool lifted, but seem to be more expensive. remember, your little 4cyl is going to need some really steep gears to make it move with 33". start looking into a engine swap. i would suggest the 4.3 Chebbie. Plenty of parts and generally cheap.

Well its not like you got rid of a 5.0! its a 4cyl. My opinion is go with a Jeep like a Wrangler or a CJ7. But the Suzuki has awesome angle of departure! why do you think they are so popular out west? Why not a lifted Toyota truck? They are really durable and go anywhere just about. Well good luck!

Popular out west?!? I hardly see any of them around here. Almost no one likes them, always fall apart and it really hard to get parts for. Most ppl around here have jeeps. Back home it was bigger trucks like F-150 Bronco , Blazers, stuff like that. But a Suzuki?!?:confused: I have a friend who has one, whishes he never bought it. Also, i think they are ugly.

On the comments about rather owning a jeep, EVERYONE owns jeeps. jeeps jeeps jeeps is all I hear, have you any clue how much most of the aftermarket stuff costs for jeeps? FAR more expensive than samurais. Also, to me, a jeep for most people is the status symbol of yuppie.
I've considered doing an engine swap, and sometime down the line I might. The thing is, that I can live with it untill I can afford 4.16 T-case gears which will help out with that. Samurais are very capable offroad and... well I don't know.. I love 'em.

At first I did want to build up a fullsize chevy, but the insurance and gas costs are nuts for a highschool student! Im in grade 11.

Suzukis are NOT very common where I am, I've been looking for 5 months now (at least) and this is the first decent one I've seen for sale.

If I do any engine swap it will be a 1.6L DOHC 16v. That seems tiny, but it has well over 100hp and it makes a Samurai go faster than I want to drive something with the aerodynamics of a lunchbox on wheels! :p Keep in mind that Samurais come stock with a 1.3L SOHC and the earlier ones had 1L engines.

Don't even mention them being tippy!! Its all how you drive them, I dont want to take a Samurai through cones at high speeds, take it autocrossing, or even turn corners at 80 like the kids driving preludes and that other junk. Ignorant people really piss me off when it comes to this;

....i hate to say it, but anything that can be rolled over at 25mph, whether consumer reports did it or not, is tippy. It may not be bad offroad, but a vehicle that is more prone to rollovers than a Bronco II by any standards is "tippy". I haven't done tests on it, i haven't seen one roll, but it still doesn't mean it isn't top heavy enough to roll at low speeds. Just my opinion though.

What year are you looking at? Are you familiar with the injector driver failure problem that their Mitsubishi ECM's have, and do you know how to get it home when it does fail? Do you know what it means when the fuel pump relay starts sounding like castanettes? I have spent more time than I care to admit working on Trackers and Samurais, and Kaspar is right, they are very scarce out here. Trust me. I've had calls going out to junkyards in an 800 mile radius, and after 3 weeks, no luck. As far as the ECM's go, they don't sell a rebuilt one for them at the dealer, and a new replacement is $825 (my cost), BUT, there are guys all over the place that will rebuild yours for $200.

There are a lot of cars that yuppies drive. Down here they wouldn't be caught dead in Jeep, not expensive enough.

Also, there are many cars they don't drive. Yugo's, Pinto's Subaru XT's, Samari's, yeah all crap. Yes I called the Samari (sp?) crap.

Have you ever driven one? They're not nearly as interesting once your in one, and I can't imagine getting up in the morning and finding one in my garage, that would be terrible.

But then we all do stupid stuff when were young. If you want to be different, get an International Scout, or an old bronco. Now those are off beat and cool.

I forgot to add that I rode in a '92, when it was still new. The car was only two months old, and every little thing sqeeked, rattled, or banged. It really did feal like it was going to flip at low speeds. This was ten years ago, and I still remember the piece of junk. It also broke down countless times had had to be brought back to the dealer, trust me, she didn't keep it very long.
