Supercharger......not a noob question
If I was to buy a new charger that took me up to around 400 horses (its a paxton) or if i get any other that give about that same amount of power what all will i have to replace to make sure my engine can handle it, im not meaning optimizing it like exhaust and all, just the bare minimum like heads and such.
Im running a 2002 AUTOMATIC GT. Im almost certain the transmission is gonna have to be changed to either a C-4 or there was another i saw that handled even more but anyways any help would be great. |
A well built 4R70W can support upwards for 800HP @ Block. A local guy here builds them and guarantee's them to 600HP/650TQ. I know that Baumann Engineering makes them and swaps them into their Cobra drag cars.... they make pass after pass w/o failure, and more consistent.

The transmission is the only thing i need to replace? And also I want to replace it with another automatic is the one you listed auto?

umm.. as far as what all you need to replace, then you need to talk to Hammer, apenn, and the guy that's got a Turbo GT..
Here's the link to Baumann Engineering, I have never dealt with them, but their products seem to hold up to stress.. I know there are a coupld forced induction guys here with automatics, they would be better to ask about the specifics.. I just would hate to see you throw out a perfectly good tranny when you could just have it rebuilt, unless you can't afford the down time. BE - 4R70W/AODE Site |
No Changes
I'm in the process of getting my car tuned up to about 385 rwhp (well over 400 hp at the motor) and I'm being told I shouldn't have to do any upgrades for reliability purposes.....however, it all is going to boil down to how hard you drive your car on a daily basis and how often you go to the track, with or without a SC.
