Truck guys...give me your opinion

This is what I'm buying in February...maybe March depending on finances..

Ford Ranger Edge
Chrome Yellow
Supercab
4.0L
5-sp
4x4
towing and payload packages

What I want to know is Styleside or Flareside.....
I love the look of the flareside, but how much cargo room is actually lost? And is that fiberglass bed shell gonna be damaged more easily than a regular bed.?

Styleside?

Flraeside?

I'm also glad to see that a Ranger with the towing package can do what's pictured below, I might actually be able to take my car to the track and not have to wait for it to cool before I run it!!!

I dont own a truck but i have never liked the look of flaresides. I would go styleside. Very nice truck BTW Yellow looks pretty good on the new rangers :)

I love the yellow ones...I want a yellow stang, I hope they bring back chrome yellow for the new body style in '05. I don't really like the new Zinc yellow, it looks pastel to me...eeewwww

another vote for style side!

i also never really cared for the flareside pickups myself either.

also just curious, what is the tow rating on the new rangers. i'm so used to seeing the smaller pickups with tow ratings in the 3000# range which the set up pictured is close to 5000#.

Styleside all the way!!!. I have never liked flareside either, with the exception of the new Lightnings.

I can't wait til I graduate from college, because it will be Super Duty time. Of course I'll keep the Stang, but I shouldn't have any problem towing with a F-250 with either a V-10 or the Powerstoke.

SAY NO TO SOHC!

Hey Hillie. whatever you do, STAY AWAY FROM THE 4.0 SOHC MOTOR!!!! Make sure you get the pushrod 4.0! You will have problems with the cam gear coming loose. Ford didnt key them like most other cam gears are. They loosen up and spin! Just from experience is why i am telling you.

Nice truck! hope you get it!

hillie16 09-17-2002 06:51 PM

:( I'll have to find out if you can still get it, but I don't think they are making the pushrod 4.0 anymore...

I like those too, but try to do what srv1 said.
