big block stang?
i was wanting to do a budget build up of a 85 mustang gt.i was wanting to use a big block 460 out of a 70s lincoln with a c6 trans.. the motor will be stock except for a little head work and a motorsports cam with a new intake and carb..does anyone know about how much power this will make or how fast it would be with appropiate traction?it should be somewhat faster than the average 5.0 right??anyone here with some bigblock experiance?

At the track theres a mach 1 fast back( no trunk) with an all stock 460 and a c-6 doing 13.0's.

uhh well.. since its in a fox stang lighter than the old mach 1's and depending on which motorsport cam u have in mind, id say with a gear an traction mid to low 12's, 11's possible

anyone here know of any site that has pictures of the 385 series in a 79 to 93 mustangs??

Go join this group. It is dedicated to owners of Fox chassis Mustangs with big blocks. They can help you. |
How much headwork is a little? If you put a good cam/carb/intake on there, with a good ignition system and exhaust, and you port the stock heads abit you will go down into the low 12's with traction.
Raise the compression to about 10.5-11:1 and expect some 11's no problem out of that big motor. Providing you have the traction/gearing/stall to do it. Skyler |
460 stroker
If your gonna do a big block 460, why not check out Summit. They took one and stroked it out to a 520. It gives 758 hp at the wheels and a shitload of torque. That will definetly give you 10's in your light Fox body.
Go to summit and search thier tech stuff for an articel called "strokers Wild part 4" that will describe the bad boy 460 in full detail. ______________ 1967 Coupe 3 spd tranny, with rebuilt 200. Awaiting Granda brake conversion and suspension rebuild |
